A Storytelling Celebration Marking a Milestone
On June 18, 2026, coinciding with her 83rd birthday, Ferdousi Mazumder hosted the launch of 'Bhindeshi Chhoy Golpo' at Ichchhetola in Uttara. The event gathered nearly 20 children aged between four and fifteen, alongside cultural luminaries such as Tropa Majumdar, Dilara Zaman, Afzal Hossain, Ramendu Majumdar, and Azad Abul Kalam . The atmosphere brimmed with warmth, beginning with a birthday tribute from the children to Mazumder and Tropa Majumdar, followed by presentation of the book copies and a stirring rendition of Rabindra Sangeet: “Mora Sotter Pore Mon, Aji Koribo Somorpon” .
Storytelling as Cultural Transmission
At the heart of the launch was Mazumder’s storytelling session. She read “Bochorer 12 Ti Mash,” a Greek folk tale from the collection, infusing the narrative with expressive warmth while patiently elucidating complex words and ideas for her young audience . Her reflections on language—urging children to speak Bengali with care and respect—underscored her belief that “language reflects character” and that “beautiful words help people connect” .
